Position Summary
The Maintenance & Lean Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations across all Windsor locations, focusing on developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance systems to ensure machinery and equipment run smoothly while enhancing the existing maintenance program.
This position is also responsible for continuous improvement across the company’s operations, systems, and processes. Creating and implementing best in class manufacturing practices to align with Lean methodologies and to aid and improve operational performance.
As the Maintenance & Lean Manufacturing Manager, they must direct, coach and support all members of the team to ensure goals are met or exceeded and to meet internal and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Managerial
· Provide direction to maintenance team regarding priorities, timelines, and corrective measures.
· Plan and manage the establishment of a maintenance budget.
· Ensure safety of all employees working within maintenance
· Track and Report KPI’s to senior leadership as required.
Maintenance
· Enhance and build upon the existing preventive maintenance (PM) program.
· Implement predictive maintenance strategies.
· Manage and lead the maintenance team across Windsor sites.
· Develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines.
· Oversee CNC machinery maintenance.
· Familiarize yourself with and manage maintenance operations at each Windsor site.
Manufacturing
· Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labour, and equipment to meet maintenance targets.
· Maintain an inventory of parts and materials routinely used for machine repair.
· Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment.
· Plan and line up outsource vendors as required.
· Ensure quality and on time delivery for all maintenance projects.
Continuous Improvement
· Lead the development and execution of a robust continuous improvement strategies in collaboration with leadership and key stakeholders by providing expertise and professional guidance
· Deliver and support business improvement initiatives and projects.
· Drive business improvement initiatives by applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies, project management, and data analysis to optimize processes and enhance performance.
· Apply project management, analytical, and research expertise to drive strategic initiatives and improvement efforts.
· Oversee the implementation of Lean initiatives, including value stream mapping, kaizen events, 5S, and root cause analysis.
· Track a lean initiative to drive the successful implementation of lean manufacturing principles throughout the organization to completion. Report on progress of ongoing projects.
· Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams, facilitating training and coaching on CI tools such as DMAIC, PDCA, FMEA, and error proofing.
· Conduct risk and statistical assessments along with root cause analysis to identify improvement opportunities and support organizational change.
· Build team capabilities and foster a culture of engagement and continuous learning to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications
· University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior-level maintenance role/
· Experience in CNC machinery maintenance.
· Minimum of 8 -10 years of experience facilitating lean training and initiatives in a manufacturing environment
· Experience leading and deploying continuous improvement in various manufacturing processes by reducing the costs and improving the flow of material and setting up cycle times.
· Demonstrated working knowledge of 6S, Kaizen, lean tools, Value Stream Mapping, Total Productive Maintenance, Waste Elimination, Shortening cycle time, DMAIC, Poke-Yoke, Kanban, 8D
· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required
· Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate, considered an asset
· Proven leadership experience managing a team of maintenance professionals.
· Excellent communication, teamwork, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
· Organizational and time management skills
Working Conditions
· Requires frequent travel between all Windsor locations.
· Must adhere to safety protocols. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
· Must be available for on-call maintenance emergencies and response outside of regular working hours.
· Work involves collaboration with various departments and managing a team.
