Position Summary:
The Director of CloudOps will play a pivotal role in overseeing the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of our Industrial AI Platform and the products in Aerospace & Defense, Manufacturing and Supply Chain and Energy offered as a Software-as-a-Service. This individual will lead a team of skilled professionals responsible for the day-to-day operations of our cloud-based systems – performance, reliability, scalability, and security. The ideal candidate will possess a strong hands-on technical background in cloud technologies, along with excellent leadership and strategic planning skills. What you’ll do:
- Strategic Planning: Expand and execute a comprehensive multi-cloud operations strategy aligned with the company's objectives, including capacity planning, cost optimization, performance monitoring and excellent customer service.
- Infrastructure Management: Lead the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and extensibility to scale. Manage a secure and rigorous change control process around the infrastructure for both the internal development teams and customer deployments.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team consisting of cross-geographic members focused on CloudOps, DevOps, IT and Support. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Automation and Optimization: In collaboration with the Engineering teams, drive automation initiatives to streamline deployment processes, reduce manual intervention, and improve efficiency. Continuously optimize cloud resources to maximize performance while minimizing costs.
- Security and Compliance: Lead our Information Security team to align on and implement robust security measures and best practices to safeguard our cloud environments against cyber threats, ensuring compliance.
- Monitoring and Incident Response: Establish proactive and support based monitoring systems and protocols to detect and address issues promptly. Lead incident response efforts, conduct post-incident analysis, and implement preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with cloud service providers, evaluate new technologies and services as the company needs evolve.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including Engineering, QA, Services and Product Management, to support the development and deployment of new features and products
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud operations or infrastructure management, with a focus on overseeing the strategy and operations of cloud
- Minimum of 5 years of GCP cloud experience in working on enterprise product deployment. Experience with AWS and/or Azure is helpful.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience with a track record of building and managing cloud operations and cloud engineering teams
- Proven excellence in maintaining multiple critical highly available, large-scale environments and supporting the demand of 24x7
- Experience navigating SOC2, ISO or other certification processes a plus.
- Hands-on experience managing incidents and reducing the frequency of incidents
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset towards identifying and resolving issues
- Expertise in automation, scripting, and configuration management tools
- Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, network architecture, and data protection principles
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
